FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | December 11, 2020
Baton Rouge, La. – The Project Management Committee for the University Lakes Project has awarded contracts for master design services, geotechnical data collection and sediment sampling, and bathymetric and stump identification survey services.
Sasaki was selected to deliver master design services for all phases of the project; responsibilities will include scheduling the related plan of work. GeoEngineers was selected for geotechnical data collection and sediment sampling. Fenstermaker was selected to conduct the bathymetric and stump identification survey.
Sasaki, GeoEngineers and Fenstermaker were selected based on their responses to public requests for proposals to initiate the restoration of the six lakes surrounding the LSU campus: City Park Lake, Erie Lake, College Lake, Campus Lake, University Lake and Crest Lake. RFPs were issued Oct. 16, 2020, with a response deadline of Nov. 20, 2020. On Dec. 10, an evaluation team comprising representatives of each project partner made recommendations to the Project Management Committee, which made final selections related to all three procurements. The project partners and Project Management Committee are excited to begin working with these exemplary firms and are confident they will provide high-quality professional skills and guidance to the University Lakes Project.
The coalition that was formed to restore the lakes includes the State of Louisiana, the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge, BREC, LSU and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, with a joint venture of Brailsford & Dunlavey and CSRS serving as project advisor. The University Lakes Project is being implemented by University Lakes, LLC, which was established by the LSU Real Estate and Facilities Foundation, an affiliate of the LSU Foundation.
Visit csrsinc.com/lakes for additional project information. Full responses from all 19 responders to the RFPs and the evaluation team’s scoring of these responses will be made available on this site and updates on the progress of the University Lakes Project will continue to be released publicly.
